It has come to our attention from several customers that there is yet another email being circulated that appears to have come from Vineyard.NET. Rest assured, if your account is current, your email is in good standing and in no danger of being taken away. The only time we would consider making your email unavailable to you is if you are more than three months in arrears. At that point, in addition to the regular account email you get, you will get a post card in the US Mail. That postcard says - "We have important information about your account - please call the office." If you don't respond to that, in the fourth month your account will be deleted and you will be sent a paper bill in the mail.
We do not respond via email to the all-too-frequent messages that are circulated because some idiot has stolen or bought a list of names. These messages are called phishes or spoofs. They are "fishing" for some personal information. Please don't answer these messages. And PLEASE do not ever click on an attachment. In Windows, simply clicking on an attachment executes the virus or phish. Just delete them. If you are worried that it might be coming from our office - call. Eric Bates and Kathy Retmier are the owners of Vineyard.NET. Unless you see their name attached to an email, and it is NOT your regular billing email - sent on the 5th of each month - you should assume that it is NOT a message from the Vineyard.NET offices.
Because Pay Pal is also a frequent victim of phishing or spoofing - they have published 10 ways to spot bogus mail. Here is the URL:
Paypal's Anti-Phishing PageTake a look, it's some pretty good information.
As always, please feel free to call the office (508.696.6688) with any questions or concerns. Thanks for keeping your business at Vineyard.NET. We know you have choices and we appreciate that you have chosen to stay with us.
