Hey! What's going on?

Vineyard.NET is slowly transitioning towards a more standards compliant website that separates the look and feel of the site from the content.

This is done using a technology called Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Unfortunately, support for CSS in older browsers (specifically, anything prior to a version 5.0) ranges from poor and incomplete to simply wrong and painful for both viewers and designers. Ultimately, there is no way to reliably design a CSS-based layout for older web browsers. Vineyard.NET will continue to ensure the overall functionality of its website for older browsers but the overall experience will be a little more spartan than before.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and invite you to consider upgrading your web browser. For what it's worth, we like Mozilla but just about any modern browser, including Internet Explorer, should suffice.

Thanks for your patience and understanding during our recent mail difficulties.

Friday, 2, July 2004, 4:30pm — We have made some significant changes in the way mail is dealt with as it approaches the mail server. We expect these changes will help prevent the mail server overload when a random "spammer" tries to send a spam attack thru our machines or to our customers.

Our new mail rules might possibly lead to a problem in the way you send mail. If you are having a problem, you should check your email preferences. The mail servers are both mail.vineyard.net. Your username is joeblow - not joeblow@vineyard.net. Making sure that your settings are correct will probably solve your problem.

Have a safe and relaxing holiday weekend. We will be reviewing email (vni@vineyard.net) over the long weekend, but plan to enjoy Monday as a holiday.

We are very much aware that you may have gotten your "normal" full load of SPAM.

Friday, 9 July 2004, 10:30am. — As you may have read in my last update, we have been locking things down to eliminate the SPAM that we get for you on a daily basis. One of the tested procedures that we applied had stopped working. It's now working again. You can burn a few extra calories hitting that DELETE button.

The good news is that now you can actually see what a good job we are doing of keeping the SPAM away from your mailbox! I got 783 in my first morning load - if you can top that send a quick email to vni@vineyard.net and I will post the "winner's" amount! Have a great weekend.
