You may have noticed that we have substantially increased the power of ourSPAM filtering software.
My usual first morning email download last weekwas in the neighborhood of 80 messages. This morning I got 12. Obviously, with such a drastic reduction in my mail volume, I will be checking the GrayMail in case something has been filtered that I actually wanted.
SPAM filtering is an opt-in program - meaning that the default is OFF. If you want Vineyard.NET to filter your mail, you must either enable the filters yourself or call the office if you don't think you will be able todo it. It is very easy - a matter of checking a few boxes and clicking on SAVE. You will find your filter settings here :
https://admin.vineyard.net/cgi-bin-admin/anti-junkmail
GrayMail (if you select this option) is part of the WebMail program. To view your GrayMail, go to:
http://www.vineyard.net/webmail
On this page you will see four boxes: username, password, server and language. In the server box you can choose either Vineyard.NET - which is your WebMail orGrayMail - which is where your filtered messages go. Your filtered mail will stay in the GrayMail box for about a week, depending upon your mail volume.
The more mail you have, the shorter period of time it stays in GrayMail. The unexpected result of this much improved filtering is the off and on slow-down of our mail server and occasionally websites. Most agree that getting less SPAM is worth a temporary slower download of mail.
This slowdown is temporary because last week we ordered two very, very large mailservers. We expect those to be delivered shortly and will have them completely online in about two weeks. We will alert you if this changes for any reason.
Thank you for your patience. As always, feel free to call us with any questions.
