Hey! What's going on?

Vineyard.NET is slowly transitioning towards a more standards compliant website that separates the look and feel of the site from the content.

This is done using a technology called Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Unfortunately, support for CSS in older browsers (specifically, anything prior to a version 5.0) ranges from poor and incomplete to simply wrong and painful for both viewers and designers. Ultimately, there is no way to reliably design a CSS-based layout for older web browsers. Vineyard.NET will continue to ensure the overall functionality of its website for older browsers but the overall experience will be a little more spartan than before.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and invite you to consider upgrading your web browser. For what it's worth, we like Mozilla but just about any modern browser, including Internet Explorer, should suffice.

Image galleries

Vineyard.NET is pleased to announce a new image gallery tool, free of charge for its customers [1], available immediately.

An image gallery is a special program that reads a directory containing image files and generates web pages for each, including navigation links (e.g. 'next', 'previous') and other meta-data associated with an image.

As well, an index page is created containing thumbnail sized versions of each image for easy viewing and browsing.

Galleries may also configured to scale each image in a variety of different sizes. This can be useful when you want to quickly browse a number of images (but where thumbnails are too small) and/or someone will be viewing them from a slow Internet connect where large image files would be a problem.

You may view an example of the gallery program on-line at http://www.retmier.com/galleries/nature-on-mv/

You can create a new image gallery using the create image gallery program. Galleries are available for use both with your personal or commercial websites.
